Pulse Credit Union Loch Sport Lakes Challenge
Submitted By Kaye - 12/11/2009 8:52 pm
HOT LIGHT CONDITITIONS For the start of the Pulse Credit Union Loch Sport Lakes Challenge, the competitors took over an hour to reach the first mark at Storm Point. Then a 10 knot sea breeze kicked in and the big Corsair trimaran took off and left everybody behind, the rest of the fleet had a spinnaker run to the Holland's Landing Mark. On the windward work the fleet had a neck and neck battle until the Magnum 8 and the Castle 650 were forced to change headsails in the strengthening breeze, costing them valuable time. It was follow the leader up to Pelican Point mark, a spinnaker run to Storm Point mark and a windward work back to the finish line a strong sea breeze. BBQ and presentations followed that evening, capping off a great day. Thanks to our sponsors, Pulse Credit Union and Kel Warham for their sponsorship. Kel announced at the presentations that they are happy to sponsor the event again next year. This will be held on Saturday 24th April 2010. YOUTH & JUNIOR REGATTA
Submitted By Kaye - 15/1/2009 5:31 pm

The inaugural coaching regatta conducted by the Loch Sport Boat Club was probably the only one conducted outside the metropolitan area.

The idea of the regatta was for young sailors from Gippsland to get together have fun, enjoy them selves and increase their sailing skills in a competitive environment.

Starting with two days of coaching, then the Regatta Invitation Race on Friday afternoon 9th January, followed by three heats on Saturday 10th, and a social evening for competitors and their families at the clubrooms.  The final heat was sailed on Sunday morning, with a BBQ lunch then presentations followed.
